Reference!

Happy Friday!

Well it is week two and the beginning of our home haunt adventure! As with any new project we wanted to start collecting reference and begin to build ideas for this years home haunt. Of course we can't just do any old home haunt! We really wanted to research those home haunters out there that really push the envelop and take it to a whole new level.

We have mentioned the Davis Graveyard in the past as one of the home haunts that has inspired us and you can find a link to their site in our side menu bar but today we wanted to point out an awesome home haunt that is put on by Steve Hickman of Terror Syndicate which is called "Dark Works." You can see pictures of it here: http://www.terrorsyndicate.com/tsp_haunts.html

We really believe what Steve does is quite amazing! He turns his entire driveway & backyard space into a huge attraction that in some cases could rival some pro haunts.

His creations (most of which are handmade) really are something different. We came across Steve's haunt while purchasing some props from his company Terror Syndicate. When we were browsing his site we noticed a "Haunts" section and were just blown away by all props he has built custom for his own haunt.

Seeing Steves haunt Dark Works has made us realize that paying attention to detail and going the extra mile to create something that come straight from your own imagination and is a custom one of a kind piece can be the recipe that helps put our haunt ahead of the curve.

We are excited to continue to add new home haunts that inspire us and as we take notes and come up with our ideas we will give you a sneak peak into what we have planned for 2010 but for now please take a minute to head on over to Steves site and check out his Dark Works Home Haunt..it really is amazing!

Display Only

Hello everyone,

We hope all has been well. We are here to announce that we have finalized the direction of Grimlock Manor for 2010.

We will be focused specifically on the Home Haunters Association's Home Haunt of the Year Contest this year.

We had a lot of fun working on a full scale haunt for the Metuchen EMS last year and hope that we can try to pursue that again some time in the future but have decided at this point in time to direct our attention on an attraction that would be for all to see.

The competition for the HHA Home Haunt Contest was fierce last year. There were a lot of great submission and the work that everyone pumped out really inspired us to want to focus our attention on the contest and see what we can do.

We are going to do our best to turn our home into the most haunted and creepy manors on the block and from here on out we provide you with coverage of all of our projects and progress as we prepare for the contest..of course we won't share all of our secrets!!

We are really looking forward to this Halloween and hope you will stay tuned to our blog as we begin to construct our plans for the Grimlock Manor Home Haunted Attraction.

In our next post we will begin to tackle our first project for our haunt "The Undead Horse!"

All the Best,

GLM Crew~

Home Haunters Association

Happy Wednesday!

It's been an eventful day and we would like to announce our new membership with the Home Haunters Association.

The HHA provides hard working Home Haunters a place to share their ideas and experiences with other home haunters. They also provide various Industry Information, product reviews, how to videos and contests for members to compete in and show off their haunting skills!

Please take a moment to head to the HHA website and check out some of the other registered haunts, haunt blogs and all the other resources they provide and if you have a home haunt please take a moment to register too!

The Grimlock Manor Haunt can be found in the registered section under the New Jersey Haunts and our blog can be found under their "Monster Blog List"

2 maybe 1 for sure!

Happy Monday everyone!

Well we are back again with some updates for you. This week we find out the fate of Grimlock Manor. The EMS should be getting back to us by the end of the week but regardless of their answer we will be putting up a Grimlock Manor Display this year for all to see.

I don't want to say that this will be your normal home haunt display but yes it will indeed be a home haunt that you can come to and check out and I can guarantee it will be a pretty spooktacular spectacle!

Home haunting is a part of our roots and really that is where it all began. We will be joining the Home Haunters Association...( http://www.homehauntersassociation.com/) and come this October will we be entering the Home Haunt of the Year contest. I am sure we will have some great competition with haunts such as the Davis Graveyard which we have featured on our site and many other great haunts but it is the dedication of these home haunts that has made us decide to get into the competition and see how we fare with our ideas and designs. We hope to put together a great show and are really excited to get to work.

We will continue to update you on the progress of the show at the Metuchen EMS and in the mean time we will begin to turn our focus on our 2010 Grimlock Manor Home Haunted Manor!

Please stay tuned as we will continue to post updates as we roll forward with our progress on the display. We will try to show updates and progress as we begin to build new props in our dungeon for this years show and will also to try and dig up some other haunt news to keep your Halloween fixations satisfied!

All the best,

The GLM Crew~

New Year New Goals!

Ahhh the first post of the New Year. I know a little late but hey better late then never! So what's new for Grimlock Manor in 2010? Well we don't know?! Not the answer I was hoping to give but we are in a holding pattern still and are awaiting feedback from last years host the Metuchen EMS.

Last years show was a fun one to concept and work on but like all new ventures it had it's ups and downs and we faced a lot of adversity along the way but the end outcome definitely showed me that hard work and dedication can pay off. We had a great turn out on our opening Friday night and still continued our strong showing through the early hours of Saturday night when the rain put an end to our show mid way through.

All in all it wasn't exactly what we had wanted to happen but I think we get an "E" for effort. When you can safely put 800+ people through a haunt and hear the screams then you know you did something right and that is exactly the response we had received.

We held a recap meeting with the EMS late November to try and make a decision on weather to move forward with GLM year 2. A lot depends on their willingness to support the show this year as it's understandably a lot of work which I think many people fail to realize. You have to plan, concept, build and market the show which takes time. Putting together a dedicated crew to build a haunted house attraction is no easy task so we still need to sit and be patient.

The creators behind GLM do intend to keep our show afloat no matter what the EMS decision of the EMS is. We believe in our show and for those people who became fans of us this year we will ensure you that there will be something to see somewhere!

I wish there was more interesting development to share with you, pictures, builds happening etc but we feel confident there will be movement on our project near the end of this month and a decision will be made weather it is year two at the EMS or a new location altogether. Either way will will continue to keep you informed and hope that those of you who continue to check in will keep doing so because we do appreciate it.

Here is to hoping for a fun 2010 Halloween Season full of FRIGHT!

Best,

Jay.
