Hey Frightners!
So on Friday night on tried out BlogTv. Head on over to blogtv.com to see what it's all about. Essentially it is a live video chat with with someone. You can only see them, they can't see you but there is a chatroom screen that they (the host) can read all of your comments and reply to them. The people in the chatroom and of course chat with one another as well.
I have watched a few of these from other haunters so far (The Bloodshed Brothers, Halloween Hellmouth & Dionicia) They have all been fun and are a great way for all of us to connect in real time and just have a good time talking about Haunting and all sorts of fun stuff! I highly encourage it, it's free and its fun!
So here is a little video about my first Blogtv and my quick review of Troll Hunter as promised!

Friday The 13!!!
Well It's Friday the 13th!!! I hope you Frightners have a freaky and fun Friday!!! This weekend I start building my carnival booths for the haunt. I will start with one just to work out the basic structure and will hopefully post some pics.
It seems that Blogger had some problems the other day while doing maintenance and deleted one of my last post about my Home Goods and Lowes finds and new editions so I will re-post those tonight...Figures it happened on Friday the 13!

New additions.
Hey Frightners.
So yesterday I stopped at Lowes & Home Goods on my way home from work just to walk around and see what was new and I ended up picking up some new additions for the haunt this year.
I am sure most of you have heard of Lowes the home improvement store but if you haven't heard of Home Goods it's a great store for various haunt odds and ends. You never know what you might find in Home Goods. They have all sorts of antique like items that will fit right in to your haunt. I have bought trunks there before, various statues and even lanterns. Just cool stuff!
In my quick walkthrough the other day I happen to come across this interesting stone head of a man covered in fo-moss. It looked perfect for the graveyard and at $30 I decided to grab it. I think I will create a small column for him and place him on top. With some up lighting it should become a cool new focal piece in the graveyard this year.
Next I stopped in at Lowes which is right next door to Home Goods. I didn't really need anything but was interested to go take a look at their lighting and happen to find that they had these new outdoor LED flicker lights that were solar powered. They were pretty cool. They had them in a tiki torch style and also in a classic lantern style. I really loved the way the lantern looked and thought that it was a perfect since it needed no wiring whatsoever. You could also place batteries in these in case you didn't want to rely on the solar power function. I have added a little video clip of the torches below so you can see how hey work but I can imagine that these could have a number of good uses in a haunt.
After a long weekend of haunt goodness at the National Haunters Convention where I got a bazillion ideas I am now ready to get to back to work on my haunt with a renewed enthusiasm! I have a lot to think out and plan since I am doing two separate shows at my haunt this year (Classic Cemetery and Carnival) but I am glad I was able to make two good purchases that I think will add a lot to the haunt. National Haunters Convention Pictures
Hey Frightners,
So I am slowly but surely getting through all my NHC pictures and videos. I think this weeks posts might exclusively be all about the NHC since I have so much stuff on it! I will do a video review of it since I think it will be easier than trying to write about it all but below are a few pictures and a quick recap of my day at the show.
SO...overall I liked the show. Now I didn't go to the haunt tours, take any seminars or go to the costume ball so I cannot really give you any insight on those (shame on me) but I did walk the floor a fair amount and got to see all the vendors and talk to most of them.
Just to back track a little bit, I have gone to the NHC once before back in 2009 so it's been a few years but it was nice because I was able to see that the show has grown some since then and there are a few prominent vendors who were attending this year which was nice to see.
Not to leave any vendors out because I think everyone there had some great stuff but I liked seeing Frightprops, Dream Scape Studios and Scare Products. I have bought products from each of them in the past and they all had a nice balance of items for sale ranging from $25 and up. It is always great to meet the people who work for these companies and talk to them about their products and see it all in person. I can't tell you how many times I've bought stuff and then got it in the mail and it falls short of my expectations but when you get to see an item up close at a convention and hear every little detail about it from the people who make it it's definitely reassuring that your money will be well spent and if not well then you know who to track down haha! Just kidding of course!
This show was different for me than the one I attended in 2009. 2009 is when I really got serious as a haunter and was working with a charity to create a one of a kind haunt open to the public in my neck of the woods. I didn't know many people in the industry then and was a bit more focused on the pro side of haunting but these days I am focused on home haunting only and have found the home haunt community to be such an inviting and friendly community. Everyone I have meet through Hauntforum, this blog, and various Haunt Vlogs have been very helpful and supportive. It truly is a great community to be a part of and this year I was fortunate enough to meet up with a lot of you at the NHC. It was great sharing some laughs together and talking about our haunts and if I took anything away from this convention it was that going to the cons aren't all about the products that you can buy and inspiration that you can pull for your haunt but its also about the connections you can make and friendships you can build with people who share the same enthusiasm for one of the best holidays around...Halloween! For this reason alone this con was a great one to be at.
So to wrap this up, below are a few pictures I got from the NHC of a few things that sparked my interest. I did walk away with a lot of good ideas for my haunt this year and hope to start sharing those ideas soon. It's going to be prop building madness very soon as I am a one man band with a lot of work ahead of me!
